Teaching QualificationsAll ILI teachers are skilled professionals with Masters degrees or TESOL certificate and a minimum of one year in student-centered teaching.They use the most modern and innovative teaching methods to encourage maximum student participation and feedback. The language is made real and immediately usable outside the classroom through simulations, interviews and dialogs prepared from real-life situations.

The staff has over 100 years of combined experience working with learners from beginning to advanced levels. The staff has lived and worked in many countries including Spain, Mexico, China, France, Guatemala, Bulgaria, Korea, Mariana Islands, U.K., Germany, Italy, Peru and Argentina and promotes intercultural understanding by providing quality language instruction and teacher training.

FacilitiesThe school is a private, non-profit language school located in beautiful downtown Northampton. The school is within walking distance of many shops, galleries, cafe's and Smith College.

There is a $100 housing placement fee. Airport pickup from Bradley International Airport (serving Greater Hartford, CT and Springfield, MA areas) is $45 each way. Pick-up from Logan Airport in Boston is $190 each way.

ILI places students with host families. Meals included is $175 per week and $125 for a room with kitchen privileges. All host families are screened by the host family coordinator before students are placed with the family.

Educational Service OpportunitiesAcademic advising available daily; conditional acceptance to local colleges; some internships available, especially in the tourism and hotel industry, advertising and journalism.

TransportationBradley International Airport, serving Hartford, Connecticut, is 40 minutes away. Logan Airport, serving Boston, is 2 hours away. Northampton can also be reached by train and bus. ILI is in downtown Northampton on a bus route.
